Dot operation limitations

Hello!

If I understand right, tl.dot operation is designed to occupy one CU and limited in input/output block sizes by shared memory of one CU.

My question is following:
is it done on purpose and what is the rationale?

Or maybe this is a temporary solution and there are plans to extend dot op in future?
