The deadline of 6000 seconds is causing an overflow on pev_timer_add() int period variable. Since the variable is declared as int and expects values in microseconds, the maximum valid deadline is 2147 seconds.

Maybe a condition can be added so that program exits with error when the user inputs a deadline greater than 2147, or alternatively, change the code a bit to support higher values (for example, using unsigned long long type).
