Specifically, the U.S. Copyright Office has stated that:
"If a work's traditional elements of authorship were produced by a machine, the work lacks human authorship and the Office will not register it."
The Thaler v. Perlmutter decision (D.D.C. 2023) further affirmed that AI-generated works without human authorship are not eligible for copyright registration.
