Hah, I'd love this, though sadly I don't think there's a way to passthrough the current hdd I use on my OMV vm to the LXC.

Hey Loane, at what step should we be starting if we ran the script from tteck? You mentioned the install script gets you "part way there". Anything we should skip? Or is the tteck script just useless in its current form since we have to do most of the work manually?

Writing here to let people know that I have managed to get this working, the install script gets you part of the way there but it doesn't work in an LXC environment out of the box. In order to actually view and manage disks, you need to follow the steps laid out here: OpenMediaVault installation in LXC with attached HW block device. You also have to create a "stupid" storage mount service in order to manually call /etc/fstab on startup, or your filesystems will be unmounted when you reboot the container. With these changes I managed to get OMV seemingly fully-functional in an LXC.

Note that you do have to manually add the block device addresses to the mount-hook.sh script for each disk you want to expose to the container, or it won't be mounted as /dev/sd*, which OMV is expecting. I'm not sure how much of this if any could be automated with a script, since it may vary depending on your hardware setup.

Ok, so this worked a treat... until I added more drives and my block devices were given different names. sdb became sdc, etc.

Now, I am wondering if it is possible to do this using something like /disk/by-id & /disk/by-uuid etc. Any ideas on this front?

I also tried creating a symlink using udev for my /dev/sdc to a more predictable name but OMV doesn't want to see that.

The folks at OMV seem nonplussed at this being a LXC. The container the script produces is not very useful. See https://forum.openmediavault.org/index.php?thread/51217-trying-to-access-additional-drives-via-proxmox-with-lxc/
Something along the lines of a warning on the current script would probably prevent folks (myself included) from going down a rabbit hole.
All that said, these scripts as a collection are an absolutely wonderful resource for folks getting started with proxmox!
