[iOS] Question about AirPlay output during Twilio Voice call #636

Description

Hello,

I’m reaching out with a question regarding audio routing behavior on iOS when using the Twilio Voice SDK.

Problem description

When using an iOS device, the system normally allows audio to be routed to an AirPlay receiver — for example, a MacBook.
In standard media playback scenarios (music, video, etc.), the MacBook appears in the list of available audio output devices.

However, when a Twilio Voice call is active, the MacBook disappears from the audio output list.
During the call, there are only:

  1. iPhone earpiece
  2. iPhone speaker
  3. Bluetooth headphones

AirPlay devices (e.g., MacBook) are no longer available.

Questions

Does the Twilio Voice SDK currently support audio output routing to AirPlay devices?

If not, is there any plan to support AirPlay routing in future SDK versions?

Technical notes
"@twilio/voice-react-native-sdk": "1.6.1"
iOS version: 18.7.2
MacOs version: 15.6.1

Thank you in advance for your help.
