Did you configure Opera to allow uBO access to search page results?

opera://extensions > Scroll to the uBO section > Find “Allow access to search page results” > Toggle to ON

There is no 'API' for this option to be selected by default:

uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues#319

Opera developers would have to make a list of add-ons that can have this checked after a fresh install or when someone migrates from the old Opera 56 to a newer edition, e.g. 95 or 119. Without a moderated list Opera devevlopers might consider reverting the change made in release 57+ (they would have to go back to stronger moderation of what the add-on does to search results and ban those that do nasty things with them).

Complain that to Opera. uBO cannot control that settings.

Can uBO not ask the user to tick it? Like Android apps ask me (and show me where) to change a system setting to allow them access to something like the camera or contacts.

Because only Opera does this, other browsers don't. There are many browsers/forks out there, each can put their own tweaks and settings, and uBO cannot embed a specific instruction each time another browser tweaks something. There are other browsers that disable uBO in their own company's sites too.

The codes are made for compatibility cross-platform as much as possible to reduce the bugs and easy to manage. Specific codes to specific browsers is the last thing to consider to prevent code debt in the future.
