Description

"uBlock filters – Annoyances" used to be a sub-filter under both the Easylist and Adguard dropdowns. One had to take care to enable it only once. Then it was separated out as its own main filter, solving the problem entirely.

"uBlock filters – Cookie Notices" is similarly bundled with both Easylist and Adguard and should be separated out as well. It seems even stranger here because without it, there would be no need for a sub-filter section for the other two either. They can just exist as three separate filters.

View the "Cookie notices" section in the "Filter lists" pane in uBO settings.

Expected behavior

"uBlock filters – Cookie Notices" as a separate top-level filter just like "uBlock filters – Annoyances".

Actual behavior

It's a sub-filter under both Easylist and Adguard.

Ah. Then maybe there could be some automation where if it's selected as part of one of the other filter groups, it doesn't get selected again? Because right now you can select it twice and never realise it, if you don't expand the filter groups.

It's a small thing, but they can expire and get updated at different times if selected some time apart. Just now I noticed that out of a total of 1913 filters, one of them had 1893, and the other had 23. So 3 extra filters seem to have appeared out of nowhere.

They are not updated at different times. Duplicated filters are automatically discarded, and duplicated filters are not statically marked, i.e the filters can be marked as duplicated at any lists for performance.

Both have 1913 filters, the number 1,893 or 25 are just for non-duplicated filters. All filters of all lists are compiled as one list at the end, so there's no issue of both being checked at the same time.

I'm confused as to how the same filter list can have non-duplicated filters that add up to more than the total number of filters in the first place. It's like saying in a class of 40, 25 are boys and 20 girls. Where did 5 extra students come from?

If there were 1916 filters in total, it would account for those extra 3.

Because there are other filters in other lists that can be duplicated with the filters in "uBlock filters – Cookie Notices" list also.

I can't reproduce: one of them have 1913 or 1888 or 1893 used out of 1913 and the other always have 0 used out of 1913, but I guess that for those users who can reproduce the abnormal / surplus filters count, it happens because some duplicates exists in 3 or more filter lists, hence for example 5 duplicates removed from list A + 5 same duplicates removed from list B = counted as: used 10 in list C (instead of 5) which gives surplus 5 filters count.
