Mention hide the Trigger text

Is it possible for the mention plugin to do not hide the trigger text (like @) ?
(screenshot below)

Our users are a bit confused because the @ disappears automatically, is it possible to leave the trigger text visible?

There is no option for that yet but we could add one.
