When I do the stuff and emerge libXft after doing it, dwm still shows uncolored emojis in the xsetroot thing

check u r libxft version, match the version of libxft installed in the file configure.ac before patching.

It eventually worked, but I had to remove a few lines from drw.c for the glyphs to show

I had done that and it didn't work
