Serving Static Webpages

We've had some discussion in a few forums (GitHub Community Technical Group and Cybersecurity office hours) about recipes to serve static webpages, as many of them back-end to GitHub.

Here's an attempt to capture the discussion to-date:

• Our GitHub Community resource site uses eleventy with GitHub Actions ultimately served on GitHub pages. The drawback here is the .github.io in the URL.
• Various campus stakeholders use GitHub-backed static site recipes and deploy to a campus web hosting solution. I believe this results in an .illinois.edu URL.

What are everyone's favorite resources for serving static websites from a GitHub repository?
