Can a widget/field know it's context within a rule?

I'm trying to get more context about the current field component, i.e. is it on the left hand side or right hand side, particularly want to know what operator is being chosen for that given rule. Appreciate the help or any ideas here.

Thanks this is helpful, but only sends the last event, the use case i would like to figure out is to filter the list of "fields" on RHS based on the operator chosen for a given rule, i might have to do some DOM querying to be able to achieve this outcome

There is a hook canCompareFieldWithField in settings. But is has no operator value you could use.
Please create an issue to add operator to this function if it suits your needs
