Fraunces Italic not working in small sizes on web (instead synthesizes from Fraunces)

Web: Fraunces Italic (somewhere below 24px, around 20px) can't use correct font - falls back to synthesizing Fraunces - across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Mobile Safari, both with full woff2 from github (v1.0) and latin subset from Google (v38 - Google internal versioning). Fixed it by adding

font-variation-settings: 'opsz' 24, 'wght' 320;

to specific CSS rule.
