NonSI units like ANGSTROM and LIGHT_YEAR removed with commit "Updated Format tests"

I noticed that for example NonSI.ANGSTROM is now missing in the 2.2 release. I tried to find out when and why and did only find that it was removed in the commit "Updated Format tests" d80e532

Can you please give a little bit more information about the removal and maybe confirm that this was intentional and not maybe a mistake while doing some other changes?

Hi, Thanks for the question. The commit message may be a little misleading, but the removal was intentional.
This page from the UK, less than a year old, tries to clarify some of these changes. According to the SI Brochure, there are 15 Non-SI units accepted for use with SI. The NonSI class tries to reflect that.
It still has a few extra units, that strictly speaking do not belong there. Where there are not declarations in UCUM or elsewhere, we consider putting them e.g. into a new class under the systems.uom.common.historic package.

Thank you very much for the prompt and helpful answer. I think I understand.

From a users standpoint it would make a migration to v 2.2 easier if the units would already exist under the history package. But we take this as a hint and will take a closer look at our system now and inspect if those units are actually in use or just nice to have.

(Migrating to v 2.2 is actually most interesting for us because of the change from javax to jakarta.)

I put most of them back but marked them @deprecated in the JavaDoc. Most likely keeping them till 2.3, while adding the new system to common-systems.

Thanks again. I think I can see what you mean in the main branch.

But I am afraid they are gone in the tagged and released 2.2 version. There is only C to be found as @deprecated.
