Describe the bug

Recently this error has shown. I have tried using the flatpak and the app image. Before each install I had also deleted all user/settings data.

To Reproduce

Open application > authentication > error

Expected behavior

Open application > authentication > no error

Environment

- OS: SteamOS
- Device: Legion Go S SteamOS
- Greenlight version: 2.3.3

I’m also experiencing this issue on Windows 10 with Greenlight 2.3.3.

Everything works fine on the official Xbox app, and I can remote play normally.
I also tried a different Xbox account and get the exact same behavior.

I launched Greenlight with DEBUG=greenlight:* and the console shows:

Failed to retrieve streaming tokens: Error fetching xsts.auth.xboxlive.com/xsts/authorize. 
statuscode: 400, body: "", message: "Error fetching xsts.auth.xboxlive.com/xsts/authorize"

Basic MSAL login succeeds. Token refresh succeeds. The failure only happens during the XSTS
exchange for streaming tokens.

Reinstalled app, deleted data, reset Xbox services, tried VPN, different DNS, etc.
Nothing changed. This seems to be happening across platforms, so I am guessing likely a backend/API change but I could be wrong.

I've reinstalled latest version (2.3.3), cleared user data and attempted to re-login with no luck.

Same issue here, it started for me on 11/12/2025 at 7:00 PM ET. Try to reset my password. Uninstall and reinstall greenlight. Once you get past the signed in, the error pops.

Error also happening on linux (Steamdeck). Updated from 2.3.1. to 2.3.3 and error persists.

Also resolved for me… maybe a third party issue.

Issue is resolve; dint do anything to troubleshot. It just started working again.

I assume Microsoft updated or rolled back whatever change was done on their API.

This usually happens when there is downtime with xCloud. I'm not sure why the Xbox app does keep working, it might be that they are using the tokens differently or maybe they cache the tokens for a longer time.

Just tried to do it today and I'm getting those error popups. The xbox recently had a system update which I applied. Could it be due to that?

I would not expect that as the token gets requested at a different host then the Xbox. Maybe it is country related, do you know if xcloud is officially available in your country?
I'm starting to think they are restricting it based on the location. If you have any way for me to reproduce the error then that would be helpful, currently the login sequence is working on my end. (I have a vpn available to test with)

I just restarted my xbox and was able to connect. I am in USA region.

I just got this error after installing version 2.3.3 on steam deck.

Edit: a few days later I logged in on another device. That worked so I went back to my stream deck. It works now....
