STL Thumb not rendering at all (any more)

System: Kubuntu 24.04 LTS

Had been using STL Thumb for some time (years), but since a few days ago, no more STL previews.
Didn't completely understand what might have been the reason, but had libosmesa6 in suspicion, at least there was a hold back package (can't reproduce the error more precisely, sorry).

Brought it to this state:
libosmesa6-dev/noble-updates,now 25.1.7-1ubuntu2 24.04.1 amd64
libosmesa6/noble-updates,now 25.1.7-1ubuntu2 24.04.1 amd64

After that, I installed the following deb's:
stl-thumb_0.5.0_amd64.deb
stl-thumb-kde_0.5.0_amd64.deb

Installed so far without any errors, but still no STL previews.

Don't even get the STL point for Previews in the Dolphin properties...

I am a bit lost and don't know how to troubleshoot...

I may be hitting a similar issues.
Started getting failures using stl-thumb alongside Dolphin in Arch Linux - using stl-thumb-kde.

I've also tested running stl-thumb from the cli and it fails with the following error:

Tried stl-thumb-git package and get the following exception in journald:

I can confirm the same issue. (stl-thumb-git + stl-thumb-kde with dolphin on KDE Plasma)
Also seeing the sane Creating EventLoop multiple times is not supported. in journalctl -f.
I figured out that this occurs when I open up a directory with many .stl files.
My guess is that the system is overloaded after some images created.

If I close/kill dolphin I can create 5 .stl preview images then it stops again. (Tested using dolphin /path/to/many/stl/files)
I see this note: note: run with RUST_BACKTRACE=1 environment variable to display a backtrace but I do not know how to enable this using my method.

One stupid workaround: Open and close the file browser until the error goes away and all thumbnails are created 🙈

Hint: In dophin I had to use F12 to toggle thumbnails.
