Why is oRPC's RPC protocol proprietary?

Hi, first of all, I do want to say that this is an amazing project

But I'm curious as to why is it proprietary, since (I think) everything else is open sourced
Or am I missing something?

I'm not asking you to open source it or anything, I'm just curious behind the decision that's all

It’s fully open source.

Why? Because we want to support binary data like File/Blob, plus more advanced features - in other words, because no existing protocol meets oRPC’s requirements.

Okay that was probably a stupid question

By proprietary, does it mean custom protocol and not widely adopted? (unlike for example, OpenAPI)
Because it seems that the serializer is in the codebase 😅

I just realized that proprietary != closed source
