Using OSX shortcuts in a OSX VM

I run a OSX VM as guest on a m2 max host system.
I try to use global hotkeys like cmd + space for spotlight - but my host captures the shortcuts, not the vm.
Is there an option (ideally only in fullscreen) to make the VM capture my hotkey inputs?
