Hello, multiple users have reported problems when attaching modern SSD devices to UTM VMs (I'm referring to issues such as #6764, #6721, #5154, #3995). This is an inheritance from qemu as far as I know (not completely sure, though). I think this is due to libusb problems in macOS, given macOS kernel lack of support for USB standards (https://www.smartmontools.org/wiki/USB webpage reports the actual problems).
Still, using the same drive on a Parallels VM on macOS I encounter no problem, I'm even able to upgrade firmware and check smart status through SanDisk proprietary software on Windows.
How is Parallels doing that? Would it be possible to implement anything like that in UTM? I think it is a pretty important feature, considering that multiple very common SSD drives and adapters are not currently working correctly in UTM.
