how snug is this ? i.e clean installation and removal (solved)

installed ep on a clean latest as per updates os build 22000.556 all good - got taskbar at top on one monitor and taskbar at bottom for the other with small icons no other changes then decided to uninstall it to check reverting back to stock capabilities of ep

strange experience to say uninstall took a few seconds with a white screen as did during installation and after removal surprisingly the taskbar is still at top for the second monitor and after a restart everything froze ,wait __ restart restart all back to normal except for taskbar on second monitor still at top ,

effort is to understand what this terribly scary file manager Patcher with too much config options is up to ,, that way being able to use configure and troubleshoot as and when needed ,

I had to completely reinstall windows because, some settings messed up the explorer, even after uninstalling.

Don't recommend using explorer patcher with latest windows build.

The program is provided as is. It’s pretty obvious, by the nature of this program (it lives and patches things in explorer.exe which is the desktop shell basically), that if some things don’t work, it would be more difficult to fix. Especially if not prepared with the knowledge to do so. I am sure that opening Task Manager, from there a file dialog or cmd, and from there browsing and deleting the files manually or rerunning the uninstall program would have fixed things just fine. No need to reinstall, and it was both your choice to do so, and your choice to run this software in the first place. I never claimed perfection, I never said the software is bug free, but I think that you should have different expectations from a software like this than you have from a software like Google Chrome etc.

exploring and reading more and information like ------- (opening Task Manager, from there a file dialog or cmd, and from there browsing and deleting the files manually or rerunning the uninstall program would have fixed things just fine.) is helpful as ep or no ep chrome , windows itself crash burn all the time where as they are not supposed to

somebody elaborate more on such things as i know shift +f10 opens cmd at some places like windows installer screen , type taskmgr to launch taskmanager etc

oth i found out what i messed up should have reset all settings then uninstall nothing out of place now i did a few more customisations too it can safely revert back with provided reset also it is wort noting that in case this manages to mess the ui up its more of a visual distraction programs and win 11 works just fine latest pre release of ep

what if this program had a checklist at install that asks if you want to patch taskbar this that i dont know the components ; that way one can select minimum amount of changes as needed and can make the program more snug or not paching anything let the user select what to configure could minimise damages to ui when the program is used irresponsibly as most people have done that including me ,

one more change i noticed is windows defender asking to enable pup detection don't know if it is a result of ep or it was not configured

As stated, after the freeze it was impossible to run taskmanager or cmd. The system windows did not show up anymore.
And uninstalling the app alone wont help, as not all explorer modifications / patches are uninstalled / reverted.

It would help a lot if "system default explorer" would be restored on uninstall.

Furthermore i don't know why you react this defensive? I just reported a bug and was hoping for a fix or a "i'll have a look at the issue" response. Nothing more.

Unfortunately the app doesn't revert all settings after an uninstall. That's the main problem.

Because of the explorer bugs caused i couldn't even open cmd to run sfc/scannow

reinstall was the only option in this case.

did you try to reset all settings ? also if you are still using or plan to just do it properly it patches explorer set it up once with minimum needed config and update once in a while

i just checked installing the latest kb update taskbar did not change or anything unusual 2022-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5011493) is the update

It is. That it doesn't work in some case, maybe it's a problem that would have to be solved.

It's not the first time I mention this, how do you expect a fix for something I don't know how to catch or reproduce. Have a look at the issue? Have a look at what? Would it really have been better to write a politically correct reply, as you state, and then simply ignore this forever. Okay then... because, I told you, and it should already be pretty obvious, it's impossible to work based off your previous post.

no the app does not revert all changes upon installation i am installing it again to check also if one defaults to all settings then uninstalls it the damage is minimum ...
