Turn off double height taskbar? #1151
-
ExplorerPatcher has been working great, but after a Windows Update about a month ago the taskbar on the main monitor is now twice its normal height. Window buttons are on the top "row" and if there are too many they wrap to the second row and become right-aligned. Other monitors are fine. If I change the main monitor, the large taskbar changes to that monitor. I would guess this is some bad Windows setting, but I've tried all the registry tweaks I can find to change the taskbar height and none have worked. I've restarted and unplugged monitors, but nothing helps so far. In Win 10 I think you could just drag the top of the taskbar to resize it, but in Win 11 and with ExplorerPatcher that's not an option. (I saw another thread about a double-height address bar, but I'm not using that.) |

I fixed this finally, but don't know the exact steps. The key seems to be using AltDrag, which will let you alt-drag any windows, even ones that can't normally be moved. Using that, I could move the taskbar to the top of my screen. It was kind of janky, and took a few tries, but once there the size was normal. Moving back to the bottom went to the large size again though. But I kept playing with that, moving the taskbar to another monitor, and restarting once the height looked right at the top. Eventually, I moved it back to the bottom of the primary monitor and the normal height was restored. Now it's working perfectly again. 🤷♂️ |
