Is "Restore previous folder windows at logon" affected by Explorer Patcher?

The very useful "Restore previous folder windows at logon" is broken or not working well for some while. I fixed that for a long time with ShellFolderFix, which even managed to re-open my folders, at correct position and size, and if I was working at a different location with other monitor and 4K or HD size, it even resized the windows properly.

Since Windows 24H2 this useful tool is broken, unfortunately. Natively the "Restore previous folder windows at logon" doesn't work at all.
Is this because original Win11 windows are tabbed? I've read 'they' fixed it, but combined with EP it still isn't working.

Recommended alternatives that work well are appreciated too.

did you uninstall EP to verify this is caused by EP?

Uhm no, actually not. That would solve a problem with an even bigger problem ....
But you are right, the issue might not be EP related at all.

On the other hand, EP fixes so many things, it would be great if it could take care of this.

EP is not meant to fix bugs in windows. That's what MS is for.

I just found the culprit. If I select Taskbar Style: Windows 10 (ExplorerPatcher), then my opened windows
are 'forgotten' after logoff/logon or restart. If I switch it back (or just reset to default settings == win11 misery, then restart of logoff/logon does preserve my open windows. Hope this can be fixed! The 'real' Win10 taskbar plus menu is way more useful.

Hmmm ... there may be more breaking settings ... I switched to win11 taskbar and added some other adjustments ....
And I lost my re-opening windows again ....

Oh and restoring to default settings gives me the cannot import to registry error ... I am toast ....

I found after changing one by one that reopening windows is (also) killed by
File Explorer - Control Interface: Windows 10 ribbon

This is probably the most important feature of Explorer Patcher to me .... Tough choice now ...

Edit: it only is the Windows 10 ribbon. I've set the taskbar to Win 10 (Explorer Patcher) and the windows still are re-opened.

I probably messed up my settings a bit, due to the import error that says that parts of registry are in use or permissions. Even restore to defaults gives that error ... I tried to cleanup by deleting Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ExplorerPatcher (which caused to reload the symbols) but there are other EP keys for weather (???).

Settings now are

• taskbar Winsow 11 (default)
• file explorer : not registerd as shell extension
• control interface: win 10 ribbon
  Other settings are as default as possible. This is a new Windows install, the many windows updates at first starts made it to 24H2,
  I also have OpenShell installed, but an uninstall did not make a difference. I use that to bring back the useful status bar info for file windows.

This makes fille explorer windows comfortable but they are not reopened at restart due to the Win 10 ribbon setting.
Change back to Windows 11 command bar (default) fixes reopening but also restores unusable tabbed windows.

Interesting observation: I did a reboot to safe mode and back (via msconfig.exe), and when returning, my open windows were re-opened ....
