Weather widget, age verification issue.

I recently have this issue when I open the weather widget

If I try the highlighted sign in option I get this,

The website for google weather is still working fine in google chrome and ms edge.

You can try resetting the widget to stock config by deleting the %APPDATA%\ep_weather_host folder. That contains the WebView2 profile for ExplorerPatcher weather. Before that, you can zip it and post it here, so I can more easily try to reproduce and provide a fix. It contains no personal data other than the widget data (city, temperature unit etc) unless you signed into Google account there which should pretty much be impossible since I did not provide an option for that and the widget UI doesn’t show any ‘sign in’ button afaik.

Yes, if I disable the weather widget beforehand, then it works (deletes the folder). I was hoping to spare myself this extra click. 😁

It should work without the extra click, as I said. The damn handle is not closed, for whatever reason, even though I disable the widget in the code, which should close the processes that host it, thus freeing it, and I wait for that to happen. I will insert some more dumb sleeps in the hope that the delay is enough for the handle to be closed and for this stupid OS to allow deleting the folder. Basically wait more.

Some colleague at work which sticks to Windows 10 LTSC releases asked me the same thing on Friday. Yeah, I intend to make it somehow work there as well. Easiest would be to have ExplorerPatcher work in Windows 10 as well, basically guarding all Windows 11-related stuff. Yeah, idk, I will look into it, I will think of something.

As for trying it right now on Windows 10: I recommend you don't do that. As it is right now, EP doesn't work on Windows 10 and will brick explorer, so if you do that, be prepared with the knowledge on how to restore it. Or just don't do it. There are neither checks to prevent you from running EP on Windows 10, nor any guards in the code to not access the new things that are not there in Windows 10. It just crashes when it doesn't find them, afaik.

Yes, I suppose you're right, the handles do not have enough time to close, at least not on my machine... I can live with that...
