Description
VeraCrypt currently depends on FUSE 2, even though the project has transitioned to FUSE 3. The final version of FUSE 2, which is 2.9.9, was released on January 4, 2019. Since then, FUSE 3 has had significant updates, including the release of version 3.18.1, which addresses various issues such as memory leaks.
I strongly recommend that VeraCrypt switch to an actively maintained package instead of continuing to rely on this outdated version, which has not been supported for six years. In Ubuntu-based distributions, libfuse2 has been removed from the main repository and moved to the universe section, while Debian's updates focus only on maintaining compatibility without new features. For security reasons, I recommend transitioning VeraCrypt to FUSE 3.
