Why does create next-app not use the latest version of Next.js (15.3.x)?

I'm facing the same issue and was quite confused by it.

The main problem is that Tailwind has regressed from v4 back to v3. Until yesterday, create-next-app@latest was using Tailwind CSS v4, but today it's back to v3.

Also noticed that the latest tag seems to be pointing to 15.1.8(https://npmjs.com/package/create-next-app/v/15.1.8) instead of 15.3.2(https://npmjs.com/package/create-next-app/v/15.3.2) on npm.

Was surprised by this as well. I think they mistakenly marked 15.1.8 as the latest stable version

Hi, yes, 15.1.8 was released to backport some bug fixes. We'll fix the latest tag soon.
