Scheduled Cron Menuitem disappeared since at least v8.0.0.

My non-root user complained, that they can't manage their cronjobs anymore. In former times they were able to switch to the webmin tab and them use System => Schedulued Cron Jobs.

WIth the current version I can't use the Webmin tab at all, but now there is a dropdown within the Virtualmin tab. The dropdown is called "Webmin modules", but there I cant find cron . I also tried to re-apply the permission for the user, but that didnt help.

As a workaround I enabled the Scheduled Cron Module in Usermin, now there is a Menu in the usermin menu, but honestly: That's maximum confusing for the user.

Is this a bug or works as designed? Is it virtualmin, webmin or the theme causing that?

Jamie, no, this isn't possible because the Webmin Cron module is part of the Webmin core package.

@derjohn Check if the Cron module is enabled on the "System Settings ⇾ Server Templates: Edit Server Template / Template Name: Administrator's Webmin modules" page. If it is, try re-saving the page to fix it.

It was enabled, and I already re-saved. Now I additionally set the radiobutton to "no" + save, then "yes" +save. Stil so webmin => scheduler cron
Is it available with your own test setups ? (so: Do I have some chance to fix it to playing around with permissions?)

Does it not work for your domain owner login, or does it not work for the master admin too?

As chief root admin I can use the Webmin tab ==> system ==> sched. cron jobs. I dont have a dropdown "Webmin modules" in the Virtulamin tab,

Do you have "Hide Webmin modules category in menu" turn on in "Manage Virtual Server ⇾ Edit Owner Limits" page for the virtual server in question?

Hide Webmin modules category in menu is set to "no" for the domin in question. I can see the other webmin modules (likle bind) in that menu. Maybe I shold list it in "webmin extra modules" ?

It depends on the ACL config for that specific user for the "Scheduled Cron Jobs" module. Be careful, as it might bypass the ACL and allow editing and running cron jobs as any user on the system, which is not something you'd want.

Go to "Webmin ⇾ Webmin Users: Edit Webmin User / Available Webmin modules / Scheduled Cron Jobs" and make sure that "Can edit cron jobs for" is set to the domain owner user in the "Only users" field.

Additionally: I habe ubuntu and debian based setups, I checked a differnet one, both suffer from this issue.

No, you shouldn't deselect "Scheduled Cron Jobs" unless you don't want it to be available for the user.

Yes, that's right, because Virtualmin created this user. I'm not sure what exactly is preventing it from working on your side. A screenshot of the "Server Templates" and its "Administrator's Webmin modules" page might help shedding light on it.

Well, it doesn't seem like it. Nobody else reported it, and it works for me just fine as well.

That's good to hear. Do you run an uograded system or a "fresh" Test-Install? I have four systems, all .deb based, all > 10 years old and always upgraded. All show the same behavior.

It works with the additional webmin module per user. This only shows the users cronjobs (tested) but it's a real chore to add that to all existing and upcoming users. :-O

Maybe some of the old options that were available at the time are now affecting this new feature. I don’t know offhand, but maybe Jamie does.

Yeah, if the only user in the dropdown is the domain owner, then it should be safe.
