i3s loader breaks with deck.gl/core v9

Is this a known issue? Using the example layer in the i3s showcase, the url works fine with the versions from the example repo, but when I upgrade to deck v9 the app fails. I'll post an issue in the repo unless there is some workaround I am missing.
