Description
After much experimentation I was able to get the latest MagicTrackpad with USB-C port to work on Windows 11 (24H2).
-
Follow directions in the README exactly and confirm that the MT is working when connected by USB-C. Make sure the Control Panel utility works as well.
-
Extract and use the apple precision Trackpad Bluetooth drivers from the 2022 Bootcamp Update file (AppleBcUpdate.exe) using instructions you can find on the web. If you view the inf file, it must show:
DriverVer = 04/07/2022,6.1.8000.6
-
Install the Apple bluetooth driver via the INF. Only install the BT driver!
-
Disconnect MT from cable (make sure you have a mouse handy), and connect it using windows->Settings->Bluetooth & devices -> Add Device.
-
It will show up as installed and have limited functionality. Left mouse button and mouse movement only.
-
Using a regular mouse, open device setting and under Human Interface Devices, at the top of the list you should see something like Microsoft Bluetooth HID device (I don't remember exactly, but it's obvious as it should be the only device with Bluetooth in its name).
-
Right mouse button on it and select update device->Browse my computer for drivers->Let me pick from a loist of available...->UNSELECT Show compatible hardware->Scroll up to Apple-> Select Apple Bluetooth Precision Trackpad, and install that driver.
-
Apple Bluetooth Prcision Trackpad should now appear in device manager.
-
Restart system. The trackpad works fine, the windows settings for trackpad works fine. The control panel applet will only work with USB-c connected.
-
So far, no performance issues.
