Notes

• octant 0.9:
  • more editing of k8s objects
  • allow plugins to extend in this area
  • better docs around new action model (they are used to power current editing capabilities)
  • being able to exec within a container
  • viewing deployments at the application level - using guidance from "recommended labels"
    • when your app is using these labels, we can show it using that label display, using existing resource viewer. label instead of "ownerRef"
  • integration with things like helm
  • fix open plugin bugs
  • adding new components as-needed
  • have identified some performance and memory issues, so sam & wayne are working on narrowing these down
  • will hold next release (0.9) until memory issue is fixed
• cutting release of 0.8 on Thu 10/10
• memory issue:
  • we've known of the memory issue for awhile. it has become worse lately.
  • have run into it a bit recently
  • wayne drafting up a proper ticket for it today
  • if things are looking good for memory issue, we will hold 0.8 to wait for its fix. if not, we'll release 0.8 on 10/10 and then potentially follow up 0.8.1 for the memory issue
• octant website will be up "soon". next community call should have something to show. keep an eye out for that!
