installing in /usr/local/ does not work

I am trying to install paraview using a an unoffitial template.
I configure it to install in /usr/local/ because it uses a different version of vtk which will overwrite the vtk version that comes from the offitiale repo and I also configered it to install the libraries in /usr/local/include/. here are the flags
-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr/local/ -DCMAKE_INSTALL_OLDINCLUDEDIR=/usr/local/include/
this give me this error:

ERROR: paraview-6.0.0_2: /usr/local directory is not allowed, remove it!

can any one help me select a directory to install it in on and adding the executable to the $PATH variable?

for anyone facing the same issue.
try to install in /usr/lib/${pkgname}.
