Nesting <v-item-group>

Is there a way to next a button group within a <v-item-group>? I have a <v-item-group> with <v-items> for general selection, and once one is a selected I want to offer a <v-btn-toggle> to select some granular option. The entire item appears to select as a single element with no detection of any selectable components within it.
