[Proposed Work Item]: Standadized LD markdown syntax

In the goal of creating a alternative to HackMD for our meetings, I think it would be create Markdown that can compile to RDFa.

I made a small demo here, by hacking Nuemark source code and taking the synthax from markdown-rdfa

I think it would be great we can agree on a synthax, feature, and if it can be compatible with dokieli.

Deliverable:

• a standard markdown syntax to compile md file to rdfa
• a js lib to do the above

I have also been thinking about this for a bit and am all for it. I am willing to commit 5+h / week for this.

Been thinking about this for a while as well!

In fact I was more ambitious, for completely writing notes using RDF in a human-friendly way (to replace my note-taking app, Trilium, which uses its own database and schema). That requires many features, and I found RDF not being concise in handling many cases. Eventually, that turned out to be less useful, as it won't be human-friendly.

So hopefully this work item can create a subset that is at least useablely complete; and if possible, hope it also considers the human-friend aspect.

(Would be interested to join some initial discussions, but unfortunately probably cannot commit more time on this, as I'll have to allocate my time for other work items that are more important for me.)

I think the work is interesting.

Since the goal is to deliver a standard RDF syntax - and hence broader than Solid; I would suggest this may be more suited to the https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/rdf-star/ WG, or a WG of it's own (similar to the JSON-LD WG).

Also note related work coming out of the JSON-LD group https://json-ld.github.io/yaml-ld/spec/.

I have created a script which reads a markdown file, creates an RDFa page from it that can be accessed as HTML and, with content negotiation as a full SKOS concept scheme. I am also creating a number of markdown converters for a more general SKOS converter and converters for the UI, Bookmark, and Flow ontologies. You can see the script, the markdown file it consumes, and the RDfa/SKOS document it produces at https://github.com/solid-contrib/glossary, I'd much value feedback.

Part of my thinking is that instead of or in addition to a generalized markdown-ld syntax, we may want shape based syntaxes. Here's the SHACL for bookmark:Bookmark, here's the markdown shape that matches it.
