Clear Distinction Between Admins and Regular Users

Currently, there is no clear visible or functional distinction between admin users and regular users in Waline.
Both appear identical after logging in — they both get the same verification badge, and while admins have a field called Admin, regular users have an Exclusive Label field. However, regular users can simply type “Admin” in their label, which can easily mislead others into thinking they are admins.

Problem

This creates confusion for visitors and reduces the credibility of verified admin comments, since any user can appear as an admin by entering that label manually.

Suggested Solution

Add a unique visual badge or color for admin accounts (for example, a red “Admin” tag instead of using the user-defined label).

Prevent regular users from setting “Admin” (or similar reserved words) as their Exclusive Label.

Optionally, add a tooltip or small indicator showing when a comment is from an authenticated admin account.

Benefit

This would make the role of admins clearer, prevent impersonation, and improve trust and clarity in the comment section.

How about the new style for administrator? We use a new badge icon for admin instead of older words.

hey everyone, just wanna say i really understand and appreciate all the hard work you put into this 🙌

@Mister-Hope i see what you mean, but approving every custom badge manually would be really hard, especially as the project grows 😅

@lizheming i really like the new yellow badge 👍 it actually looks great, and even if i didn’t fully understand my own suggestion or if there were issues with it, the new badge is already enough and solves the problem. big thanks for this amazing work 🙏

also i don’t want to remove the text label box, it’s a nice feature that lets people write something that expresses themselves

maybe we can keep both labels too:

admins keep the fixed “Admin” label with the new badge color (maybe change the box color too) and can add an extra label next to it if they want
normal users automatically get the fixed “User” label, and they can also add their own label next to it if they want. the “User” part can’t be changed unless an admin gives them the “Admin” role, then it will be updated to Admin

this way admins still have their main label, users have theirs, and the new badge clearly shows who is admin 👌

There might be some misunderstanding, I mean that the administrator's text label will be deprecated. However, the user's customized label will still be retained, and the administrator can use it for personalization.

the new badge already looks great and honestly it’s enough to solve the problem
i just meant this as an extra idea if you’d like to consider it — keeping the new badge, and adding the old “Admin” label above it with a different color, while normal users get a new label that shows “User” next to their name. this way it’s clear who’s an admin and who’s a regular user

Sorry, I misunderstood. There is some duplication between the two features. To keep Waline more streamlined, we still want to keep only the badge ability.
