Support alternative control channels (USB) when DDC/CI not available

I have a USB-C to HDMI 2.1 adapter but it strips off DDC/CI channel.

However, my LG GX8 OLED monitor has an app (LG Switch) that uses USB-B connection to control the monitor and switch inputs, change brighness, etc.

It would be nice to support this channel, as BetterDisplay now support LG OLEDs via network integration.

Support for that would be great, but I am not sure how specific this control method is to some LG displays - I'd certainly need a display like that to experiment with it. Does the display still work with DDC (if the right adapter is used that does not have the DDC issue)?

Yeah, it works with DDC.
I have only one HDMI out in Macbook Pro and can't find a proper usb-c to HDMI adapter for HDMI 2.1 that doesn't cost millions 😬
There are some hubs and KVM that have issues with DDC passthrought, that's why an alternative approach would be a nice to have.
I'm just suggesting an idea 😉
