keys = "i" vs event = "InsertEnter", which is better?

These two options can achieve the same goal which is to load a plugin when entering insert mode. But is one better than the other?

With keys, the mapping is unmapped after the plugin loads. Meanwhile with event, an autocommand is defined but when the plugin is loaded the autocommand stays defined somewhere in memory (Although I might be misunderstanding how packer handles event).

Doesn't seem a big deal considering everything but are there more significant differences to be aware of?

I realized now that i is not the only way to go insert mode 🙃. So of course InsertEnter is better.
