issue with SSL and Venus planet #4
Description
So I have read this

which led me to this

It's not a very hard fix. I could do it. And it would benefit both here and planetplanet.
The issue is that I don't think @rubys is still maintaining venus as he switched to pluto which is in ruby. So I don't know how a PR against the original project would work. Or maybe just need to fork it.
