Version 2.5.0-Dev getting ready for release in the next couple of weeks

Hi everyone,

I’ve integrated most of the outstanding PRs into the dev branch and am shooting for a release of v2.5.0 in the first week of November.

Would appreciate any feedback if you run into issues with your code running under this version.
