    Trans Europe Planner ist ein Open Source Software Projekt

<p lang="de">
    Ziel des Projektes ist es, das Planen von langen Zugreisen zu vereinfachen. Bei solchen Reisen ist oft
    die schnellste Reiseroute oder die mit den kürzesten Umstiegen nicht unbedingt die Beste. Stattdessen sind oft
    andere Kriterien wichtiger, beispielsweise:

    <li>Ich will mir gerne unterwegs noch was anschauen, wenn ich schonmal in der Gegend bin</li>
    <li>Dafür bin ich vielleicht sogar bereit einen Umweg einzulegen</li>
    <li>Wegen der Kinder/Hund/etc will ich nicht soviel auf einmal fahren und lieber mehr Pausen haben</li>
    <li>Ich will genug Puffer vor wichtigen Verbindungen (z.B. Fähren)</li>
</ul>

<p lang="de">Mit dem Trans Europe Planner untersuche ich, wie man all diese (von Person zu Person sehr unterschiedlichen
   Kriterien) in der Reiseplanung abdecken kann. Grundidee ist: anstatt alle Kriterien bereits bei der Anfrage
   formulieren zu müssen, bekommen die Nutzer*innen einen Reisevorschlag, den sie sich dann sehr einfach
   und Schritt für Schritt für sich persönlich anpassen können.
</p>

<p lang="de">Bisher stand im Projekt bewusst hauptsächlich die Entwicklung und Evaluierung einer passenden UI. Das Füttern
    mit umfassenden und aktuellen Daten war bisher noch nicht im Fokus.

<h1>About this project</h1>

<p>
    Trans Europe Planner ist an Open Source Software Project
    <a href="https://github.com/krasch/trans-europe-planner"> https://github.com/krasch/trans-europe-planner</a>.
</p>

<p>
    Aim of the project is to simplify the planning of long train trips. With such trips, often the fastest route or
    the one with the fewest number of layovers is not necessarily the best one. Instead, other criteria are often more
    relevant, e.g.:
</p>

<ul>
    <li>I want to some exploring/touristing along the way</li>
    <li>I might even want to make a slight detour for that</li>
    <li>Due to my kids/dog/etc I don't want to travel too much at once and prefer having more breaks</li>
    <li>I want extra buffer before important connections (e.g. ferries)</li>
</ul>

<p> These criteria can differ a lot, depending on the person travelling. Aim of
    the Trans Europe Planner is to explore how the criteria can be better met during the process of planning
    a trip. The basic idea is: instead of having to state criteria directly when making the routing request,
    users receive a proposal for a travel plan that they can easily and iteratively adapt to their personal needs.
</p>

<p> Main focus of the project so far has been the development and evaluation of a UI that supports this process.
    Feeding the tool with more comprehensive and current data has not been much of a focus yet.

von Nutzer*innen werden an einen Server gesendet, es werden auch nirgendwo solche Daten gespeichert.</p>

<p>Travel planning happens completely in the browser. Neither trip info nor any personal user data are being sent to
    a server, such data is also not stored anywhere. </p>

    these are: browser, device type (desktop or mobile), operating system, country, HTTP Referrer. A full list can be
