Support for OpenStreetMap wiki data items?

Hi!

Would it be possible to provide (basic) support for wikidata items for OSM?

Right now we have no automatic or bulk way to create or modify any of the items.

Hi @cuatim , it seems they don't have REST API support: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Data_items#API_access_and_querying Here they talk about only the action API with wbgetentities. QS3 uses the new Wikibase REST API :/

Thank you for looking into this. I think the REST API is avaiable for the OSM wiki:

The wiki is at version 1.43.6:

Wikibase REST API is available on every Wikibase instance updated in December 2024 or later (1.43+). https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:REST_API

It specifies /w/rest.php is there: GET example.

Hi @cuatim , that's awesome, thanks for pointing it out. We will have to figure out separate authentication mechanisms, since you can't use your Wikidata account to edit OSM. But maybe that's a good feature to have, although complex.

If it has a REST API, if you want, you can deploy QS3 locally and configure it to point to OSM REST endpoint.
