Hi Will

New to Solax. Solar Edge + Solax AC X1 Retrofit 5.0 + Solax 5.8x3

Like to know if battery control allows force discharge for octopus outgoing.
Secondly, Can you set a start / stop time for discharge?
Would like to know your hardware and software setup

I have the solax X cloud packt wifi connected at present. There is a MODBUS as well.

For the HA stuff...from the discussion thread... I need RAS PI 4...Install HA ...is there anything, in particular, I need to get.

I have a Samsung smartthings HUB - I am not sure I can use that.

It looks like your inverter comes with a built in ethernet port.

So install HA onto you hardware choice. Doesn't have to be a PI, could be a NAS drive, old Laptop with a broken screen etc...

Plug your inverter into the network via the ethernet port.
Find out it's IP Address.

Setup HA to use packages:
add the following to configuration.yaml

homeassistant:
  packages: !include_dir_named packages

Copy my solax_x1_hybrid_g3_group_read.yaml into your packages folder.
Add
inverter_ip: 192.xxx.xxx.xxx
to you secrets.yaml

You should be good to go then.

I don't know of a way to get ModBus into your Smartthings HUB as I don't own one, but I know you can integrate your HUB into HA.

Seems I can't install Ubuntu/docker on my Joggler. So I am going the route of RPi4.

My Solax AC 5.0 is connected to a modbus sdm230modbus - I think its an ethernet cable plugged into Solax Inverter on one side and few individual wires to modbus.

My question: How to connect RPi with Solax....which port on Solax . I also have a https://www.renugen.co.uk/x1-wifi-solax-wifi-dongle-for-x1-inverters/ which has it own wifi - so I at times control the Solax using the APP in local mode by connecting to Solax Wifi.

Also I am not sure ...if this RPi will be dedicated for Solax or I can use for other Smart Devices in House( Lights/etc) using HA on the same RPi

As your inverter has an Ethernet port, you might as well plug that into your Router / Switch and communicated using ModBus over TCP.

The Package by default is set to use Ethernet, so just add your IP address of the Inverter.

Hi Will,

Would very much appreciate your help.
I have a new X3 Hybrid 10 kW with 3 x 5.8 kWh Solax Triple Power batteries.
Here in Flanders we will be charged extra when we have a high power consumption, called "capacity tariff". The distributor measures the consumption per 15 minutes and takes the highest peak of a month to calculate the distribution costs.
To be able to limit power consumption peaks when the battery is empty, I can switch from 12 % min charge to 10 % min charge by writing to holding register 32. So the remaining 2 % become available to the house, lowering the current 15 minute peak value.
However, when the inverter is in "Idle Mode" it takes more than a minute before it starts producing (first performs a 1 minute self check).
Do you know a way to speed up this process? Some register to wake the inverter instantly? Or a way to prevent it from going into "idle mode"?
Also, do you know if the inverter automatically starts charging the battery from the grid if I have used the 2 % and switch the low limit back to 12 %? The operation mode is "Self Use"

You could try force time mode, I find that the inverter doesn't go into idle mode. If you set your Charger Start and End times to 0:0 the inverter wont try and charge from the Grid.

Are you able to move the times you have heavy loads to a time where there is solar or you battery isn't at 10% ?
Instead of starting a Dishwasher at 5am start it at 10am etc.

Another option is if you battery goes to 10% during the night, you could reduced the output Amps of your inverter so it is effectively rationing the stored power for longer?
For example the Battery Discharge Max current could be reduced from 20 Amps to 15 Amps from say 22:00 - 06:00 for example.

Obviously your battery won't cover your total load, but you should be able to reduce the pull from the grid for a longer time frame, reducing the spikes?

I think if you increase the min charge from 10% to 12% it will charge from the grid, been a while since I have been in that situation so not sure? You could run an automation to delay switching from 10% - 12% once the batteries are above 12% from Solar charging.

I am trying to work out if any of the configs you have still support the older SK-SU5000E model inverter with ability to write to registers. If so which version should I use?

That's the Gen 2 Model. Are you batteries PylonTech or SolaX?

I am using 16 * LifePo4 Cells with Ant BMS. The BMS is not integrated to the Inverter so wanted to control the charge / discharge time and rates e.t.c.

I have only partially implemented writing charge times to the inverter.

The charge / discharge current rates can be changed.

You can't force discharge the inverter though.

I have tried your code for the Gen 2 Model. And the sensors and options appear in HA. But they don't seem to be receiving any data. I have the inverter connected via the LAN connection and can ping it okay, and I can connect with putty to port 502 okay. There doesn't appear to be any errors in the HA logs. Is there someway to enable some further debugging.

Any suggestions appreciated.

P.S. There is a missing apostrophe at the end of line 461 of solax_x1_hybrid_g2_pylontech.yaml
