How to auto-start container after reboot?

I have to run podman-compose --file ~/.config/winapps/compose.yaml start for the Windows VM to start.

What's the best way to make sure the podman/docker container is automatically running after a reboot? Log-in script, systemd unit? This should be added to the documentation as well.

Actually adding a command like sleep 20 && podman-compose --file ~/.config/winapps/compose.yaml start as a log-in script in the KDE autostart options is enough. Doesn't work without the "sleep" at the beginning for some reason.

Compose has an option for this. Set restart to always or unless-stopped and the container will automatically start on boot.

In the compose.yaml in ~/.config/winapps, I changed the "restart" line to say restart: always. But it doesn't actually start after a reboot. Can you help me out please?

And I start it with podman-compose --file ~/.config/winapps/compose.yaml up

Start the VM using podman-compose --file ~/.config/winapps/compose.yaml up -d once to daemonize the container. From then, it will run in the background even after reboots.
