Because of Zotero's internal synchronization mechanism, bidirectional synchronization can cause serious data loss or overwrite problems, so note synchronization is unidirectional from Zotero = > external markdown. Unsynchronize the note within Zotero before modifying the external markdown content. ::: warning If 💡 only needs to export one or occasional updates, it is recommended to select only export instead of synchronization. ::: There are two ways to trigger note synchronization:

  1. In the workspace menu bar = > File= > Synchronize master notes or Ctrl + Shift + S;
  2. Check "Automatically synchronize to export path when modifying" when exporting a single file (only valid when "the child note of export link is markdown file" is also checked).

At this point, the modified content in Zotero will be synchronized to the last export path.
When notes are synchronized, clicking Export will replace the Export window with the Synchronization Status window:
Click "Export As" to open the original export window.

Synchronous management

Click "Synchronization Management" in the above Synchronization Status window, or in Menu Bar = > Files = > Better Notes Synchronization Management to open the Synchronization Management window.
Here you can select notes, synchronize manually, modify the synchronization path, or cancel synchronization. If "Apply to Associated Notes" is checked, the action will also be applied to other notes of the selected note link, even if they are not currently synchronized.
