Upgrading Wix 3 to Latest version ( License cost involved?)

Our company currently utilizes WiX 3 for our setup projects. As we are planning to upgrade to the latest version, WiX 6, I noticed that the official WiX website (wix.org) now redirects to firegiant.com.

Could you please provide guidance on the steps required to upgrade from WiX 3 to WiX 6? Additionally, I would like to know if there are any licensing costs associated with using the latest version of WiX.

We are investing in more centralized information how to upgrade from legacy WiX to contemporary WiX versions but for now you should read through the migration guides v3 to v4 (more significant changes) then v4 to v5 (fewer changes).

Additionally, I would like to know if there are any licensing costs associated with using the latest version of WiX.

There is no licensing cost, but WiX is adopting the Open Source Maintenance Fee as a means to sustain the project. Everything is still Open Source, but consumers that generate revenue will need to start paying the fee via GitHub Sponsors in the next couple of weeks.
