wix toolset 6 - how to install a asp.net core 8 web app with custom application pool

Question

I have created an installer project trying to install a asp.net core 8 web application.
All the workings of my installer work besides the web application install.
Instead - I get a folder list underneath of the IIS default web page.
I am using Wix toolset 6 with the iis wix extension
