Self-Contained binaries

Question

Has there been any talk about publishing self-contained binaries/bundle .Net 8 runtime to eliminate the pre-requsite runtime installation? I understand this doesn't work for the .netfx portion so I'm referring to the .net6/6/10 runtime.

No. You install the .NET "Core" version of WiX by donet tool install wix. Thus, you already have dotnet.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense from that standpoint. I'm more of a niche` user, as I don't care about building a wix bundle, I'm mainly using dark.exe to extract the .msi file so I can deploy or extract various files (ex. vcpp runtime) so was looking for more of a portable/standalone solution for use with wix.exe now that it's becoming more widely adopted and dark.exe can't extract the file names of the newer bundles.
