The stable API is supported in starting with v3.12, which isn't even released yet. So this is mostly a thing for the future (this is described elsewhere in the docs). |

I see the stable API notes for windows on CMakeLists.txt, but if I don't have stable API enabled, is there anything else that actually requires 3.8 or would 3.7 suffice?
