Yeah unfortunately that situation is still the same today.

We should clearly set the expectations in the documentation about requirements for getting the badge. I'm in favor of requiring meaningful contributions (e.g., not just typo fixes) and stating that we usually manually award badges after each release.

@swissspidy After last comment from Dion there is in theory UI for that not requiring public linking. There is badges to team linking required.

We can omit the linking. But we still need documentation :)
