I am using a LetsEncrypt certificate and using a control to listen on port 443. After repeatedly establishing and closing connections several times, the VB6 development environment crashes without reporting any errors; however, this issue does not occur when using a DigiCert certificate.

This issue occurs in the Windows Home version, but there is no problem in Windows Server 2022.

I don't have Windows Home readily installed but a repro project might help debug the issue.

Yes, I have already done it. I specifically created a small project to test this issue. The security certificate in this attachment is not from DigiCert.

Are you using chinese letters for project name? This won't open here.

Can you try using plain english for names and identifiers?

Edit: Also the test.com.pfx password is incorrect so the sample cannot start here.

I finally made it work with a Let's Encrypt certificate I know the password for.

The sample is stable here both in IDE and compiled. I'm testing it with this

Might need some proper multi-threaded stress testing though (don't have time to setup this).

Some improvements

In Ws_ConnectionRequest you can use sckIndex = Ws.UBound + 1 and remove If sckIndex > 1024 ... check. No need to overflow here if you get more than 1024 simultaneous connections.

For the VB6 project name, variable names, and comments, I used English throughout.

The file test.com.pfx is just a random certificate I picked, and the password was incorrect from the start. I apologize for not mentioning this in advance.

I found that the program crash was not caused by loading too many controls, because I always unload the controls whose connections have been closed.

Thank you, I have already switched to using a DigiCert certificate. As for the LetsEncrypt certificate, I will try other methods to look into the problem.

There is one difference between the certificates from these two companies: the Let's Encrypt certificate is a wildcard certificate (xxx.com and *.xxx.com), while the DigiCert certificate is a single-domain certificate (xxx.com and www.xxx.com).

I'm testing here with wildcard certificate from Let's Encrypt and cannot simulate any crash.
