Any potential of adding support for an LFE channel?

I'm one of the few insane people audio-obsessive Linux users using the analog multi-channel jacks on my motherboard, though I only use a 2.1 setup & therefore only the FRONT and C/SUB jacks. Using qpwgraph, I can see EasyEffects does not process the LFE channel & in fact, just ignores its existence outright - I work around this by manually connecting the FL and FR outputs to LFE, though I do wish I had the ability to uniquely apply a low-pass to it.

Is it at all reasonably possible to add support for solely the LFE channel, and none of the other multichannel outputs?

As EasyEffects pipeline is stereo and some of the plugins we use only work or make sense with stereo audio I do not see this happening even in the far future. There was a discussion about multichannel support in the past #1126. The same limitations still apply. We can't just add support for LFE. The way the application handles the pipeline has to migrate completely to multichannel.
