Is it possible to somehow remove loud bangs and noises during pause and playback using a compressor?
there is a short burst of audio.

I noticed that if I set this value to 0, it almost completely removes the audio spikes

If pause/playback is involved maybe it is some audio data stored in the plugin. Did you set the lookahead parameter to a non zero value? As far as I remember without lookahead there should not be much data being stored in the plugin.
