Adding custom fields to manifest

👋 folks! Just curious if anyone has propagated custom data via manifest or anyhow else. In particular, I would like to include commit hash and timestamp into dev builds and show them in the popup.

It is technically possible to include some data into version_name, but there are two issues:

• We can't encode much because otherwise version_name will become too long and ugly
• version_name is not supported in Firefox
